Families are like branches on a tree. We grow in different directions yet our roots remain as one”
There is a place in each of us that yearns for family connection and without it, part of us feels empty and meaningless. The problem is, we are not really taught how to manage all the stress placed upon us in these changing times.
I see a lot of pressure placed on families today and understand how navigating through everything can feel overwhelming. It becomes especially difficult when you are dealing with a challenge for the first time or are experiencing long-term difficulties like financial distress, pressure at work or trying to help a wayward teen.
When we are doing the best that we can but don’t know how to deal with our stress and anxiety, we usually hold it inside or take it out on someone else. For most of us, the easiest outlet usually ends up being our family.
This unconscious way of coping can often lead spousal disconnect, parent challenges, confusion, insecurity and pain.
I love working with families who are eager to improve their lives. I can help your family implement simple yet highly effective techniques that will improve communication, resolve conflict and unify your family relationships.
My formal education includes a degree in psychology with extensive training in personal development as well as NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming). I am certified as an Independent Facilitator through Parenting with Love and Logic and the Arbinger Institute. I completed a yearlong life coaching program and went on to complete certifications in leadership, relationship, and family coaching.
Strengthening families has always been a passion for me. When I worked with at risk youth and their families, I met hundreds of desperate parents sending their children to inpatient treatment programs hoping for a change. The program I worked with was designed to strengthen every member of the family unit by providing education that encouraged each person to work on their own personal struggles.
I started out as a family coach helping families implement boundaries and structures needed to establish an accountable well-balanced home. After many years working as a family coach, I was hired on as a mentor coach. My duties included guiding new coaches through a yearlong life coaching program. I also worked as a mentor coach in leadership, family, and relationship coaching. After many years of coaching and mentor coaching, I moved into a facilitation position working with families in the personal development field.
I have noticed that parents with struggling kids have a lot of fear around their ability to navigate the challenges faced by our youth today. These fears often lead to blame and cause stress in a marital relationship.
One of the greatest blessings I bring to my clients is knowing from personal experience how much courage it takes to honestly look at and work through the internal things that get in the way of an emotionally healthy family life.
